Elizabeth Jane Miller, age 94, was promoted to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2023. She joins her mother and father, sister and brothers, grandson Casey, and her husband of 71 years Alton to spend eternity in paradise.
Born Elizabeth Jane Bencze on June 19, 1929, Elizabeth grew up on the Southside of San Antonio and graduated from Harlandale High School. She worked as an LVN, an RN and a Public Health Nurse, ultimately retiring from a management role at the San Antonio Tuberculosis Hospital.
Elizabeth was a friend to everyone around her, and her kindness and concern for others was woven into her DNA. A long-time member of First Baptist Church in San Antonio, she enjoyed her involvement in the choir and cherished many friendships. Her fellow churchgoers, as well as members of the Emerald Oaks Retirement Resort, continued to check on her status right up to the last day of her earthly life.
If Elizabeth could speak from Heaven, she no doubt would remind us that we are all children of God and that our salvation was paid in full by the blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, but that is up to each one of us to acknowledge His sacrifice by turning away from sin, towards the Heavenly Father, and asking Him for His forgiveness.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father Paul Sr., mother Anna, sister Hazel, brothers Paul Jr., John and Steve, her grandson Casey and finally her beloved husband Alton. She is survived by her sons Gene (Marie) and Mark (Amy), grandson Lucas (Joanna), granddaughters Leslie (Chuck) and Amanda and great grandchildren Rylan, Harrison, Lucy, Jude, Sarah, Tayson, and Owen..
Heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers at North Central Baptist Memorial Hospital and Vitas Healthcare, as well as kindred spirits Jim & Judy Murray and BJ Grant for their faithful and unwavering support of Elizabeth.
