Elizabeth Allen Betty Ruda

Elizabeth (Betty) Allen Ruda, 94, of San Antonio, died at 12:20 PM, Sunday April 2nd, 2017 at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born July 6th, 1922 at Flushing Hospital in New York City, New York to Brigadier General Harvey C. and Ruth S. Allen.

Surviving Betty are her children Major Edward A. MacDonald of San Antonio, Patricia Brown of Santa Fe and Robert MacDonald and wife Deborah of Pipe Creek and Grandchildren Edward Allen MacDonald and wife Cynthia of San Antonio, Keegan Brown and wife Komal of New Orleans, Amiya Brown Pennebaker and husband Charlie of Seattle, Bethanney Elyse MacDonald and Ian Andrew MacDonald of Pipe Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter A. Ruda in 2005. She graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Home Economics and Nutrition and years later completed a Master's of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of the Incarnate Word. She completed her certification as a Medical Technologist and worked at Northeast Baptist Hospital and Brooke Army Medical Center Blood bank. She loved to dance and travel as well as follow art, science and astronomy. She spent her last years living at the Forum in Alamo Heights and was still involved with her many friends and dancing at the Continental Café. She retained her quick wit, detailed memory and incisive thinking until the very end. She will be dearly missed. Heaven has another Angel.

The memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday April 13th, 2017 at St David's Episcopal Church, 1300 Wiltshire Ave. San Antonio, TX 78209. Officiating will be the Rev. Lisa Mason, Rector. Following the memorial service will be a procession to the interment service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. There will be a reception following at St David's Episcopal Church for family and friends.
