Elizabeth Joy Robinson Sauer (“Litzie”), a long-time resident of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024. Litzie was the ninth and youngest child of William F. Robinson and Ida Clara Junck Robinson and was born in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1946 and was a proud member of the Purple Jackets pep squad. She married Louis Sauer, Jr. at the tender age of 17 on November 23, 1946, and they were married almost 60 years until his passing in 2006. She is predeceased by her parents and eight siblings; her husband, Louis; her daughter, Sandy Sauer Peel; her son, Larry Paul Sauer; and her daughter-in-law, Edina Welsh Sauer. She is survived by her four remaining children, Gary L. Sauer (Claudia), Cindy Sauer King (Ronnie), Lori Ann Sauer Moczygemba (Joe), and Patrick K. Sauer. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Litzie worked at the telephone company after World War II until she had her first child, Sandy, in 1949. From that point forward, she was a full-time mother and grandmother. She was involved in every aspect of her children’s education, religious training, and extra-curricular activities. She loved St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, was a devout Catholic, taught children’s religious education and adult Bible studies, and was active in numerous church organizations. She answered every call to assist or celebrate life and our God. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many of the clothes that her children wore, including formal dresses. She was a cook beyond compare and excelled at comfort foods, cakes, cookies, and banana bread. Litzie was a self-appointed greeter at church or any other group function. She exuded love, was always a hugger, and was a friend to everyone. She had many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends in San Antonio, Fair Oaks, Boerne, and beyond, that she loved and who loved her. Litzie was the matriarch of our family and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
Special thanks go to James Lee and his professional staff at Bella Groves in Bulverde. Their tender loving care of Litzie for the last 18 months comforted her and made her final days happy. She experienced a compassionate environment that was priceless.
The family also wishes to thank Dr. Richard Clemons, Dr. Jairo Melo, Dr. Randall Bell, and Dr. Thomas Weiss. These gifted physicians were instrumental in Litzie’s longevity, health, and happiness.
