

Beloved by friends and family, Ella Taylor Schutz went to meet her Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Ella's sunny, resilient personality was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was born on January 1, 1920 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Charles McQueen Taylor. Ella's family moved to San Antonio several years later.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and then attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. After college, Ella married Lemuel Shaw and they had one daughter. When Lemuel went to war, Ella worked in the office of censorship.
In 1952 Ella married Frank J. Rilling, and they had two sons. Frank predeceased Ella in 1996. In 1997 she married Charles Dulaney Schutz, who passed away in December of 2010.
Ella was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for twelve years, served as a deacon and was active on the Sanctuary Flower and Hospital Flower Committees. She was a docent at the Mc Nay Art Museum for many years, a member of the Military Civilian Club, the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, the Revelers and Los Alegradores dancing clubs, and the San Antonio Country Club.
She has been a member of the Argyle and the Petroleum Club. An avid bridge player, Ella enjoyed playing duplicate at SACC every Thursday with her friends. She loved hunting, and once killed three turkeys with one shot at the Ziegler Ranch.
Ella was predeceased by her brothers, General Charles Taylor and Dr. Tom Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Rilling Lehman and husband Ron; sons, Frank Rilling Jr., David Rilling and wife Nancy; sister-in-law, Anita Taylor; grandchildren, Michelle Sterling and husband Mark, Maddox Muse and wife Jodie, Hunter Muse and wife Robin, and Rachel Rilling; seven great grandchildren; niece, Susan Taylor Neuman; nephew, Clifton Taylor; step-daughters, Lynn Mims and Dianne Reser, and Albert and Sue Schutz.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sharon Wilks and Dr. Sandeep Patel for their care of Ella during the past two years and to Jennifer Thompson and Hospice Inspiris. The family also extends special thanks to Jane Ross, Ruth Diaz, and Bernice Martinez, for their devotion and service.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Porter Loring.

Dr. Mark Sterling and Rev. Scott Simpson will officiate. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
A private graveside service will be held for family members only.
