Butch and I worked at western electric together for many years. We had lots of good times playing cards at work , bowling and softball and golf after work. He will always be remembered by all. He was an all around great person and especially a good family man. My thoughts and prayers go out to Judy, Butch and Bobby along with the rest of his family.

Words are hard to find that span the 50+ years Butch was a part of our family.  It began when Butch and my husband, David, started working at Western Electric in the 60's.  That's where their friendship began and never ended.  
Regardless of what the job was Butch would step up to help his fellow brothers in CWA Local 6290.  Preparing for the CWA Roundup by selling tickets, preparing potato salad and coleslaw, assisting on the day  of the picnic, plus helping to clean up afterwards.  The Roundup lasted 20 years-Butch was always there.
Later when David became South Texas Area Rep, Butch stepped up again and became the San Antonio City Rep for Local 6290.  There were only a few picket lines over the years when Ma Bell or Western fought for the workers share of the profits.  
Butch and Judy's first apartment was on Bailey Ave.  David and I were in the next block on Bailey.  Butch always remembered David and my anniversary calling to  say hello and wish us well -- this went on for many, many years even after David's passing.  Such a sweet, dear man to remember, especially me, after David passed away.  Our families lived in the same southeast area of SA until we moved to Bulverde and they to Rockport, TX.  Distance did not matter to the friendship.  
My final memory of Butch is his attending my 80th birthday in March.  He was happy, talking with everyone, telling stories to our daughters, Cindi & Sally.  I will always remember his smile and bear hugs.  So grateful he was in our lives.
Judy and family, you know he is having a good time in his new home meeting up with all his old buddies, still telling his stories.  Prayers for those left behind - it is bitter sweet losing him.

Butch and I started working at Western Electric Company (a part of the original A T & T) in 1961 so we were coworkers and friends for over 63 years. We shared lots of experiences and stories back in the good old days. Butch was a good man, an avid golfer, bowler, softball player, loved to hunt birds and just fun to be around. Everyone knew Butch had a strong voice but not everyone knew that Butch could sing really well. I was always trying to get Butch to sing one of the country music songs when we were working. There aren’t many of us old timers left and you will be missed my friend.

Leah and I are heartily sorry for the loss of Grandpa. He is in Paradise now with the Good Lord. I loved hearing his old military stories! He served his Country and his family well. I was glad to know him over the past several years. All our love and prayers- Eric and Leah Phillips
