Elsa Ramirez Garcia passed into eternal rest and freedom in Christ on February 23, 2022. She was a beloved wife, adored mother, wonderful and devoted daughter and sister, dear friend, and loved family member to many.
Born in April 1970 in Montebello, California, Elsa was the youngest of three for Alejandro Ramirez and Rosa Silva Ramirez. She spent her early childhood years in California, including kindergarten with Mrs. Nishihara, one of many favorite teachers through the years who would inspire her to follow her own teaching career. After her family moved permanently to San Antonio, Texas, she completed secondary school and was a member of the dance team at McCollum High School. Elsa earned an elementary teaching degree and certification from Stephen F. Austin University. This accomplishment was paired by the blessing of starting dear friendships that would last her entire life. Her teaching career of 25 years included positions at Braun Station Elementary and Thornton Elementary. She dearly loved her students and treasured many sweet stories of their sayings, behaviors, needs and accomplishments. She was a loved colleague and friend to many of her fellow teachers. Elsa loved spending time with her dear family and friends indoors and out, celebrating birthdays to honor those she loved, and looking forward to holidays to make others feel special.
When Elsa met the love of her life, Alfonso, they realized their paths had briefly crossed in middle school and again in high school. Upon marrying years later, their joy and love was a great encouragement to many family and loving friends. They welcomed children Benjamin and Catalina and spent happy years in devotion to each other and their beloved children in their loving home, which they made a destination of fun and relaxation to their family and friends. A favorite verse of Elsas served her well in her life, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31.
Elsa is preceded by her father Alejandro Ramirez, parents-in-law Antonio (Carmen) Garcia Jr., brothers-in-law Antonio Garcia III and Joseph E. Davis II, and sister-in-law Rosa Rosales. Elsa is survived by her husband Alfonso, son Benjamin, daughter Catalina, mother Rosie Ramirez, sister Rosario Davis, brother Alex Ramirez (Christina), brothers-in-law Alfred Garcia (Virginia), Armando Garcia (Lucy), Arthur Garcia (Cookie), Albert Garcia (Lisa), and sisters-in-law, Patricia Garcia, Gloria Cedillo, Mari Carmen Cervantes (Paul), Grace Guerrero (Jesse), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, dear cousin Sandra Montelongo and many more dear cousins, dear friends Claudine Robinson, Jeanna Childress, and many more loving family and friends.
