He attended Mid America Nazarene College and graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 1977 with a double major in Theology and Political Science.
Dave enjoyed a brief professional minor league baseball career with the Kansas City Royals organization, playing both pitcher and first baseman, before moving to Richardson, Texas in 1977 and began working as an Insurance Adjuster with State Farm.
In 1980, Dave began working in the construction industry, moving his family to the Rio Grande Valley in 1983. After continuing in the construction industry for several years and working part time as a Youth Pastor and Music Minister, Dave decided in 1987 to devote the next three years to the ministry as the Assistant Pastor at the First Church of the Nazarene in Harlingen, Texas.
While in service of the church, Dave had the opportunity to touch many people's lives in a positive way. Dave returned to the construction industry full time in 1990, working in both residential and commercial construction.
During that time, Dave served as an assistant coach for the Rio Grande Valley White Wings, a minor league baseball team, and helped lead the team to a championship season in 1999.
For the final three years of his life, Dave worked at Lowes, making many lasting friendships. In his leisure time, Dave greatly enjoyed sports and other outdoor activities, including golf, hunting and fishing.
He spent countless hours over the years with family and friends sharing these passions and making many memories along the way.
