Elva G. Alvarado

December 19, 1953October 15, 2020

Elva Guadalupe Alvarado born December 19, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas went safely home to heaven on October 15, 2020 at the age of 66.

Elva graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1972. She succeeded her mother’s occupation and she acquired formal training at Vogue College of Cosmetology. She was an experienced hair stylist and a successful and proud owner of E.G.’s Hair Salon. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steel novels, congregating with family and friends, crafts, and bingo with her dear sisters. She was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church.

Elva was a remarkable woman. She always impacted those around her, she was just that type of person. She always had a smile. She always had time to talk and made everyone feel special. She was a wonderful combination of warmth, compassion, kindness, laughter and love.

Elva was so grand; an extraordinary grandmother. Her heart was an everlasting patchwork of love. She shared a strong and unbreakable bond with her pride and joy, Eli. In her eyes, he was always right and he could do no wrong.

Elva, you are gone but not forgotten. In our hearts it will always be....your soft voice, vibrant smile, and your unconditional love, you will forever be imprinted in our minds.

She is survived by her companion of 9 years, Ricardo Cantuarias; sibling, Evelyn Lopez (Leonardo), Judith Menchaca Lilly (Gary), Efrain Menchaca, Jr. (Cristina), Ms. Virginia Marie Menchacha, Carmen Mildred Lopez; children, Enrique M. Coz Jr. (Yvette); Yelitza Ann Alanis (Mario) and her only grandson, Eli Joshua Coz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Efrain and Andrea Menchaca who were a huge inspiration to Elva and her entire family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto, 78211 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.

Yeli, I've met your mother on a couple of occasions and she was really wonderful to be around. She reminded me of you and vice versa. You carry that same energy and glow in yourself.
Caitlin and I have been thinking of you every single one of these days during this difficult time. We will continue to have you and your family in our thoughts. May the memories of your mother bring you peace, comfort, and strength.
