

Elva Gertrude Ball West went to be with The Lord on September 29, 2014 in Elk, Washington at the age of 97. She was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on December 14, 1916. Elva was a secretary at Texas Military Institute and Southern Music Company before retiring to raise her family. She will always be remembered by family and friends as an accomplished seamstress, cook, gardener and artist. After the death of her sister Lucille, she took in her two nieces, Carolyn and Kay Cain to raise along with her own daughter Linda. Elva and Ernie opened their home and their hearts to a number of family members, church friends and neighbors. One of their greatest joys was to help others and to be an example of the Christian faith. Elva and her family were longtime active members of the San Antonio Northside Primitive Baptist Church before moving to Spokane, Washington to be near her daughter. They lived in San Antonio, Texas for over 50 years before relocating to Washington. While in San Antonio they enjoyed many lasting friendships with a host of neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest West, and her daughter Linda Gail Getty, brother Harold J. Ball, sisters Lola B. Daly and Jennie Lucille Cain. She is survived by three nieces and one nephew, Carolyn Huckaby, Kay Holt, James Cain and Susan Ball Bush, grandchildren Natalie Giante, David Ross, Julie Pucci, Hollie Sawyer, Dusty Holt and Kylee Gilles, great grandchildren Preston and Ryland Giante, Ryan Pucci, Celeste, Bryce, Chloe, Seth and Anna Sawyer, Hudson and Hayden Holt, Hannah and Braxton Gilles.
In addition, the family would like to thank Julie Johnson and Cal Marston for the wonderful care and love they gave to their dear friend Elva.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane , Washington, Pend Oreille County, in memory of Elva West.
A service will be held inside the chapel at Sunset Memorial Mausoleum on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.
