Elva Miller, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, passed away in the early morning of January 24th, 2025. Born December 11th, 1941, in Ohio. She was the 9th out of 11 siblings. She made her way to Texas as a young woman and settled on the quaint street of Alexander Hamilton Dr in 1968, there she lived and thrived until her passing. Anyone who met Elva would know that she was a woman of quick-wit and strong will. No one could compete with her Bingo finesse or her insurance benefits knowledge. An extremely hard-working single mother, she raised 3 sons while working a full-time job.
Outside of her responsibilities, she enjoyed reading mystery and thriller novels, playing (and winning) all kinds of games including bingo, board games, and casino slots, traveling to new and exciting places, beating everyone at card games, and always having fun. After her most recent surgery in September, she spent six weeks in the ICU and continued using an oxygen tank after she was released. Despite these circumstances, Elva never complained or felt sorry for herself, she just made the best with every day that she had and never let anything stop her. Her loss is felt by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Today she is survived by her three sons, Anthony, Alan, and Arnold, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her viewing will be held on February 7th from 10 am-1 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary, followed by a service at 1 pm. Burial will follow in San Fernando Cemetery III.
