

Elvia was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidery, crossword puzzles, and baking for those she loved. Her caring spirit, warm heart, and devotion to her family will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Elvia obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Our Lady of the Lake University. She spent her professional career teaching in the Edgewood Independent School District, beginning at Emma Frye Elementary and continuing at various schools and in different positions including assistant principal and reading specialist.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Z. Hettler, and her parents, Jose R. and Amelia Garcia.
Elvia is survived by her husband, Raymundo Garza; her sons, Arthur Gerald Hettler, Paul Joseph Hettler, and Daniel Anthony Hettler(Franchesca); nine grandchildren-AJ Hettler, Janelle V. Hettler, Justin Hettler, Christopher Hettler, Samantha Hettler, Paul Hettler, Katie Hettler, Izaac Hettler, and Elijah Hettler; two great-grandsons- Matthew Hettler and Zach Hettler; her siblings, Elda Hart(David), Elsa Abasolo, Esperanza Pedrazine, Joe Garcia, Jr(Linda), Esteban Garcia, and Ricardo Carlos Garcia(Angela); her uncle, Ernesto Garcia; her aunts, Elvira Echartea, Eloisa Perez(Pedro), Carmen Gonzales, and Thelma Saenz; 62 cousins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Elvia’s love, kindness, and treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, Tx 78237. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, there will be a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4222 S.W. Loop 410, San Antonio, Tx 78227.
