Elvira Zerda

Elvira Zerda, age 98, passed away on April 2, 2013. She was a devout Catholic having attended church at St. Ann, St. Paul, and St. Mark the Evangelist in San Antonio and Prince of Peace in Houston. Her life was centered around her religion and family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and cooking for family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wenceslao and Anna Marie (Biasiolli) Martinez; husband, Peter Zerda, Sr.; grandson, James Zerda; brother, Frances X. Martinez; sisters, Anita Sanders and Marie Carmen Umscheid. She is survived by her sons, Peter Zerda, Jr., and wife, Jean; Robert Zerda and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Nicole Aguilar and husband, Alfonso, John Zerda, David Zerda and wife, Andrea, Angela Zerda; great-grandchildren, Ryan Cervantes, Nathan Cervantes, Isabella Zerda; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Zantua, PA Kathy Carroll, Enrique, DJ, Michelle and the rest of the staff at Chandler Estates Assisted Living and Health Care facilities and the VITAS nurses for their outstanding care. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
