Born in the great nation of Mexico in the mid 1930’s, Emilia Rodriguez fought and persevered to become the best woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother she was ever able to be. She dealt with problems head on and made every effort to always put her family first.
Around 1962, she met Alfredo C. Hernandez, who fell in love with her, and they decided to marry and take on the world together. They raised their children with all the love in their hearts and fought to stay together as long as the Lord permitted them too. She stood by her husband through thick and thin, making the most of every situation.
In the 1970’s, they decided to move their family to Texas and settled in the beautiful city of San Antonio, where she continued working as a seamstress and, of course, the best mother in the world. In the late 70’s, they decided to venture north for the summers, becoming a migrant family. These adventures gave them the greatest opportunities to always persevere, instilling in their children a work ethic that has made them strong and adventurous.
Her love for flowers and gardening kept her busy. She had to have as many plants as could fit in a yard and every seed she could get her hands on, even if it meant breaking the law.
On November 28th, 2007, her husband, Alfredo, went to be with the Lord. And she went to live with her daughter, Martha, and loving family, where she lived out the remainder of her life. And WOW what a remainder. She loved cruising and traveling, gardening, crocheting, word search puzzles, jumping in the car with whoever could take her to visit family members and getting lost along the way, playing loteria with her family where the house rule is she has to win always.
She loved returning home to visit her sisters and brothers in San Buenaventura, Coah. MX. And going to the ferias.
On March 14th, 2020, she suffered the greatest loss a mother could ever have; the death of her youngest son, Patricio Lorenzo Hernandez, who’s ashes will be laid to rest with her and her beloved husband, Alfredo.
She is survived by her siblings Adolfo, Carolina, Lorenzo, David, Dina Eli, Jesus, Yasmina, and Rosenberg. Daughter Mirna (Carlos). Son Adolfo (Lydia). Daughter Sandra Patricia (Marcos). Daughter Martha Alicia (Isaias). Son Alfredo Jr. Son Juan Alfredo (Lucy). Daughter Maribel Emilia. 15 grandchildren. 20 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; who will greatly miss her loving ways.
