

Emilie Jean Mayborn Ehrisman entered into Eternal Rest on May 20, 2009. She was born August 10, 1943 in Scottsbluff, NE, to Harold and Lucille Mayborn. She was the youngest of four sisters and spent her childhood in Scottsbluff, NE. Emilie received a BA in Sociology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Emilie married Wayne Ehrisman on June 10, 1967, and to this union were born two children, Laura Hernandez-Ehrisman, married to Gustavo Hernandez of Austin TX and Sarah Ehrisman engaged to Aaron Davis, of San Antonio, and two beloved grandchildren, Christian Delgado, and Maria-Isabel Hernandez. She began her career in Social Work for the Department of Human Resources in San Antonio, and later worked for over twenty years at the Child Guidance Center in San Antonio. Mrs. Ehrisman was a gifted child and family psychotherapist, and devoted her professional career as a mental health advocate and service provider for underprivileged and underserved children and their families in her community. She generously supported civic and charitable organizations in her community through both volunteer service and financial support. Emilie was a loving wife, a constant companion to her husband, a caring, involved mother, and grandmother, who devoted much of her life to helping her children and grandchildren pursue their goals and discover the joys of living. Mrs. Ehrisman loved gardening and the great outdoors. She actively pursued political causes she believed in. She loved music, was a gifted vocalist, and devoted many years of her life towards training and performance. Emilie was a member of the San Antonio Choral Society and a loyal member of the choir of the Jefferson United Methodist church for 30 years, where she performed frequently as a soloist. She will be long remembered as a woman of extraordinary talent, intelligence, wit, candor, integrity, and grace with a deep and abiding love of humanity and all things beautiful. She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, daughters and sons in law, her beloved grandchildren, three sisters, Alice Dunn of Kearny NE, Nancy Peterson of Denver CO, and Carol Sue Waits of Arvada CO, and their husbands, as well as many close friends and extended family.
