She was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 16, 1939 to Jesus Corral Galindo and Angelita Rodriguez Galindo.
Emma G. López began her career with the Joske’s Las Palmas Credit Department where she met the love of her life, Oscar P. López. She continued to further her career working with Edgewood ISD as an Administrative Secretary and a Teacher Assistant for Special Needs Children. She found joy in volunteering within her church and the Thompson Neighborhood Association.
She enjoyed spending time with family, organizing events with the Elegantes (church) and her High School Friends. But most important to her was sharing her faith in Christ. She celebrated life in every area including her garden, decorating, and baking.
She was known as a woman with a keen sense of recall and a woman “on a mission”. Any task she started, she completed full force, keeping others aligned to the same task. She was a key organizer of the Edgewood HS Class of ’59 50th Reunion, as well keeping everyone in touch after the gathering.
The holidays were a special time for her. She took pride in decorating her home, which is currently ready for Christmas. Her home was known for its warm, welcoming feeling and for the delicious cookies she loved to bake.
She loved her community by continuing to support the Thompson Neighborhood Association and the Oscar P. Lopez Education Scholarship Fund, named after her husband.
Her passion and love for sports was evident. She supported her brothers when they played as well as playing ball herself. She would not miss a Spurs game, Cowboys game, Texas Rangers game, or college football. She was known to be on her feet cheering on her teams with her jersey on, her flag on the house, and wreath on her door.
