

Enedina was born on March 23, 1948, in Anahuac, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Senobio and Benigna Lara. She grew up in Anahuac, where she met Baldomero Lafuente. They married and, in 1968, moved to Baytown, Texas, where they began their family and raised five children. In 1974, they moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Enedina lived for the remainder of her life.
Enedina was a hardworking and talented woman who earned her Texas Cosmetology License and owned and operated her own hair salon, working as a beautician for 22 years. During her retirement, she continued to stay active, working in retail selling art and clothing.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping, gardening, cooking, and traveling, and she held a special affection for the ocean and spending time at the beach. Enedina was a devoted Catholic and a faithful student of the Bible. She loved reading Scripture and deepening her understanding of her faith, which remained a source of strength and guidance throughout her life.
Above all, Enedina will be remembered for her love of life and her tireless devotion to her children and grandchildren. She possessed remarkable strength and faced every obstacle with determination and a firm belief in God. She was never afraid to tell her family when she knew they could do better, but she was also their fiercest defender whenever she believed they had been wronged. She was, in every sense, the epitome of a strong woman.
Her love, strength, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Enedina was preceded in death by her parents, Senobio and Benigna Lara, and her brother, Juan Lara.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mendlovitz (Ervin); her sons, Luis Lafuente (Alma), Rene Lafuente (Eva), Harold Lafuente (Rita), and Allen Lafuente; her brothers, Francisco Lara and Jesus Lara; her sister, Elida Rangel; her grandchildren, Laurenn Lafuente, Amorette Lafuente, Aaron Mendlovitz, Kristen Casias, Alec Lafuente, Blake Lafuente, Brian Mendlovitz, Victoria Lafuente, Rene Lafuente Jr., and Ricardo Lafuente; and her great-grandchildren, Elena Bella Lafuente and Scarlett Eulalia Lafuente.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that her faith was strong, her love was abundant, and the legacy she leaves behind will live on through the generations she cherished so deeply.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238, on October 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with Rosary starting at 6:00 pm, and again on October 12, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
A Funeral Service will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, Texas 78023, on October 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian, 11624 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas 78253, on October 12, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
Enedina “Nena” Lara, querida madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana, tía y amiga, falleció en paz el 1 de octubre de 2026, a la edad de 78 años.
Enedina nació el 23 de marzo de 1948 en Anáhuac, Nuevo León, México, hija de Senobio y Benigna Lara. Creció en Anáhuac, donde conoció a Baldomero Lafuente. Se casaron y, en 1968, se mudaron a Baytown, Texas, donde comenzaron su familia y criaron a sus cinco hijos. En 1974, se mudaron a San Antonio, Texas, donde Enedina vivió el resto de su vida.
Enedina fue una mujer trabajadora y talentosa que obtuvo su licencia de cosmetología del estado de Texas y fue propietaria y administradora de su propio salón de belleza, donde trabajó como cosmetóloga durante 22 años. Durante su jubilación, continuó manteniéndose activa, trabajando en el comercio minorista y vendiendo artículos de arte y ropa.
Encontraba alegría en los placeres sencillos de la vida. Le encantaba ir de compras, cuidar su jardín, cocinar y viajar, y tenía un cariño especial por el océano y por pasar tiempo en la playa. Enedina era una católica devota y una fiel estudiante de la Biblia. Le encantaba leer las Sagradas Escrituras y profundizar en su comprensión de su fe, la cual permaneció como una fuente de fortaleza y guía a lo largo de su vida.
Por encima de todo, Enedina será recordada por su amor a la vida y por su incansable dedicación a sus hijos y nietos. Poseía una fortaleza extraordinaria y enfrentaba cada obstáculo con determinación y una firme fe en Dios. Nunca tuvo miedo de decirle a su familia cuando sabía que podían hacerlo mejor, pero también era su más ferviente defensora cuando creía que habían sido tratados injustamente. En todos los sentidos, fue el ejemplo perfecto de una mujer fuerte.
Su amor, fortaleza, fe y entrega inquebrantable a su familia permanecerán en el corazón de todos los que la conocieron. Será profundamente extrañada y recordada con mucho amor.
Enedina fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, Senobio y Benigna Lara, y su hermano, Juan Lara.

Su familia encuentra consuelo en saber que su fe era firme, su amor era abundante y el legado que deja continuará a través de las generaciones que tanto amó y atesoró.
