Enrique Gonzalez, 58, an honorable, remarkably hardworking Single Parent and Engineer passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Born on December 30, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, Enrique was a beloved son to the late Arturo and Gloria Gonzalez. He is survived by his most loved and cherished son, Christopher M. Gonzalez; his sisters, Oralia Diaz, Esther Gerena, Elba Nag and husband, Abhijit, and brothers, Fernando Gonzalez and wife, Shirley, Reynaldo Gonzalez and wife, Marlen, and Hector Gonzalez, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Enrique knew no strangers, always with an infectious smile, a mention must be made of friends too numerous to name from Independence Hill Resort and Marquis Bandera Apartments. His family and friends made his life joyful, filled it with conversation, and helped him meed out comfort in his last days with us. Enrique’s most valued accomplishment as he said was fathering a remarkably good son with whom he enjoyed playing video games and fishing. Enrique loved his son, Chris, and set an exemplary work ethic for Chris. Chris at his Dad’s side taking care of his every need even until his father’s death demonstrates his father’s diligence in raising a good child. Enrique’s other accomplishments were an Associate Degree in High Rise Building Management and Maintenance. An impressive work history of 36 years with various companies includes Tenneco Inc., Exxon, Shell Oil, Lifecell, and UTSA. A more reliable, trustworthy, and diligent employee despite being a loving and caring single parent cannot go unmentioned. A greater love of Father and Son cannot be understated.

As hobbies Enrique enjoyed cooking, gardening, movies, chess, video games, and fishing. His infectious smile, well remembered, will forever be imprinted in our minds. Our Dear father, brother, and friend will not be forgotten. He will be missed. And all our fine memories of him will keep him alive for us and motivate us to move forward as he did time and time again with his smile until he could no more. May he rest in peace with Mom and Dad, siblings, and other beloved family. A visitation for Enrique will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Ricky as we all all called Enrique was a shy reserved kid growing up and as an adult Rick and I had a sixteen and a half age gap, he was the baby and I am the oldest of ten children. I remember he loved his baths had a lot of hair I remember giving him a haircut when he was a teenager I cut and cut and got now where he had so much curly hair! Where did it all go.

We got to know each other the last few years thru the phone. How I wish we could have gotten together one last time I am grateful for the memories we shared and that he is at peace in the company of mom and dad Arturo Jr., Ernest and Robert. I love you all dearly.

My fondest memories of Ricky is when he was a baby. He never crawled. I would put him on his knees and he would roll over, sit up and start hopping across the room on his behind. He was so proud he would smile and look back. Him and Robert did tricks by placing both hands on floor and lifting one foot to the ceiling. We all clapped and cheered them on. Rick and Robert played in the kitchen rolling cans and clanking pots and pans.
Rick as a teenager was quiet and reserved. He decided he needed a self defense class so he studied Tae Kwon Do. I attended his events and was so proud to see him be so competitive and earn his progressive belts. His personality and smiles were his greatest gifts so he didn't have to use his skills while in school yet I was happy he could defend himself.
Rick shared many memories of his past life bringing up his son Chris. His pride and joy. You could feel the love over the phone and see him smiling.
I will miss him dearly as my other deceased brothers, each one with their own unique talents. Rick has joined them and perhaps they're fishing which is what they all had in common.
