Mr. Maldonado is preceded in death by his parents, Esequiel and Francisca Maldonado; his children, Elizabeth Flores, Ernest Maldonado; his grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Sanchez, Tessa Anne Lares, and Zachary D. Gray; his sisters; Maria De La Paz Garza, Patsy Magdaleno, Rosemary Enriquez, Janie Arevalo, Mary Campbell and his son in law, Serapio Ornelaz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Rose Maldonado; his children, Sylvia Maldonado Ornelaz, Alice Maldonado Houy and her husband Jason, Nancy Maldonado Herrera, Joy Maldonado, his son in law, Ignacio Flores; his grandchildren, Rosie Sanchez, Oscar Ornelaz, Jarrell Flores (Alyssa), Natasha Pendleton Flores (Ashley), Lauren A. M. Gray, Stephanie Acosta, Jack K. M. Houy, Charles Lares (Anthony Morones), Chelsea Lares, Lyric Maldonado; his great-grandchildren, Teresa Lyn Roberts, Kayliah Sanchez, Alayna Marie Aguirre, Aiden Guerra, Liana P Sanchez, Abesity Martinez, Annalyssa Ornelaz, Evodney Ornelaz, Erimas Ornelaz, JD Lares III, Oliver Flores, Henry Flores and his great-great-grandson, Philip Allen Roberts.
Enrique (Henry) was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa, and brother. He was also a devoted friend to many and a mentor to all. Our father enjoyed going camping and fishing on weekends at Goose Island State Park and he loved being outdoors working in the yard or on his house projects. During football season, he loved them Cowboys (lol) and his sweets during the games and he always looked forward to going with the church to Lucky Eagle Casino to gamble.
Our dad was also very spiritual and dedicated to his church, St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, a Lector, an Usher, a CYO coach, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. We are so blessed to have had such a loving and caring father in our lives. Although our dad is gone, he will forever be in our hearts.
A Rosary will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211, US, on September 30, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St Leonard Catholic Church, 8510 S Zarzamora St, San Antonio, TX 78224, US, on October 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
