He is survived by his wife, Estela R. Mercado and 6 children, Edara (Hilda) Walthall of Emory, Texas, Angelica (Angie) Rodriguez of Preble, New York, Alejandro Mercado of Kirby, Texas, Enrique Mercado, Jr., Minerva Simmons and Eugenia Reyes of Pearsall, Texas. They have 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Enrique's brothers and sisters are, Ester Ramirez, Maria Olga Martinez (deceased), Maria Delores Garcia, Jose Johnston, Juanita Ramirez, Lupe Aguero, and Mike Johnston (deceased).
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. at the local V.F.W. Hall in Pearsall, Texas.
The family will also hold services at the Johnston/Mercado Reunion at Camp Graham Ball in Lake Kickapoo, Texas on June 28-June 30, 2013.
