

Enriqueta was born in Edinburg, Texas, on November 23, 1933, to Rafael and Maria Gaitan. She grew up in Edinburg and attended local schools before graduating from Pan American University.
Enriqueta dedicated her life to education and spent 30 years as an elementary school teacher with the Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio. She touched the lives of many children throughout her career and took pride in helping young students learn and grow.
Enriqueta never married and did not have children of her own, but family was always an important part of her life. She had a warm and caring nature and enjoyed spending time with those around her. She especially loved playing bingo and games and could always enjoy a little friendly competition. She also looked forward to attending Wurstfest in New Braunfels, where she enjoyed listening to German bands, celebrating the music and traditions she loved.
Enriqueta will be remembered for her dedication to her students, her love of family, her enjoyment of good music and games, and the simple pleasures that brought her happiness throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Maria Gaitan; and her siblings, Dahlia Sarraf, Rafael Gaitan, Rodolfo Gaitan, Tina de los Santos, and Rosalydia Weis.
She is survived by her sister, Dolores Alaniz; and her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish her memory and remember the special place she held in their lives.
Her life was one of service, family, and countless memories shared with the people who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 1st at 1:00 pm in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
