Enriqueta Guadalupe “Lupe” Martinez, age 82, was taken to the Lord in the comfort of her home on Monday, February 8, 2021. Lupe was born in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico on June 11, 1938 to Manuel and Julia Leyva Talamantes.
Guadalupe was a woman who devoted her life to Jesus Christ and to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married her best friend, Varo on December 12, 1954 and continued a blessed union for 66 years. Lupe will be remembered for her honesty, love of music, dancing, and playing the harmonica. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first-born son Domingo, siblings, Arturo, Jesus, Raul, Rufino, Aurora Lopez, Angelina Patino, Obdulia Vasquez and Ernestina Torres, and grandson Thomas Mountains.
Lupe is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Evaristo; her daughters, Maria Elena Barajas, Leticia Johnson (Keith), Teresa Mountains (Lorenzo); sons, Jose (Cynthia), Armando “Looper”, Marcelino, and Adan; grandchildren, Jorge, Raquel, Cecilia, Daniel, Bianca, Royce, Allanna, Austin, Larissa, Jenny, Talia, Demi, Noemi, Vanessa, Mariah, Ian, Jared, Adamari and Adam; 20 great-grandchildren, and brothers Salvador Talamantes of Bakersfield, CA and Enrique Talamantes of Del Rio, TX, as well as numerous extended family members.
Services will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2021 with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. and funeral service followed at 3:00 p.m.
