Enzo was born to Vincenzo and Antonietta on October 16, 1946, in Naples, Italy. At age 14, he moved to the Bronx, New York, and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. In 1970, he was drafted into the United States military and stationed in Korea, with his final assignment in 1973 at Fort Hood, Texas.
In 2006, Enzo met the love of his life, Karen Buchannan. In 2014, he proposed to her at the top of the Empire State Building, and they were married soon after. Enzo and Karen lived in Lago Vista before making their final move to San Antonio, Texas, where Enzo decided to retire and enjoy a serene life with Karen and their family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Pellegrino; his son, Enzo T. Pellegrino; his daughters, Teresa Pellegrino, Renea Pellegrino, and Christina Benavidez and her husband Brandon; his stepdaughter, Brittany Hyde and her husband Will; his beloved brother Frank Pellegrino and wife Linda, their children John, Francesco, and Maria; many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews; twelve cherished grandchildren; and two precious great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo and Antoinette Pellegrino.
Enzo was a remarkable, self-made man. His entrepreneurial spirit saw opportunities and transformed them into successful ventures, creating value for himself and others. He began his career in the bar business, owning several establishments in Killeen and on Austin's infamous Sixth Street. His passion for Italian cuisine led him to open a few pizza restaurants, and his love for cars inspired him to open a car lot. Enzo's entrepreneurial journey continued as he ventured into the construction industry by starting an underground utility business, which eventually led to his true passion for developing and building residential communities through Silver Creek Construction.
Enzo was a true Renaissance man who respected hard work, dedication, loyalty, and diverse experiences. He dedicated much of his life to helping aspiring entrepreneurs start their own businesses, generously sharing his wisdom and experience to guide them on their paths to success. He relished traveling the world with his wife, guiding his children, savoring exquisite Italian dinners followed by espresso, admiring breathtaking sunsets on the back deck, driving classic cars, enjoying a well-earned Peroni after a hard day's work, and spending precious moments with his grandchildren.
Enzo will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He graciously extended his love and support to others, finding immense joy in guiding and nurturing those around him. He had a true talent for bringing people together in laughter and sharing the stories of life. His impact on the lives of his family, friends, and community will be remembered and cherished forever.
A funeral for Enzo Pellegrino, a cherished father, husband, friend, and grandfather, will be held on August 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
