
He worked for H.E.B. for 37 years and was an Officer and Member of the Board of Directors for 30 years. After retiring from H.E.B., he worked as a management consultant for over 10 years.
Erie was active in community organizations and served as President of the San Antonio Food Bank; President of Goodwill Industries of Corpus Christi; President of the Gulf Coast Council, Boy Scouts of America; President of the Texas Food Marketing Association; Chairman of the Board of St. Luke's Methodist Church in Corpus Christi; Board Member of United Way in Corpus Christi and San Antonio; and member of the Corpus Christi and San Antonio Rotary Clubs.
Erie was married for over 49 years to the former Ranel Robertson, who passed away in April of 2000.
He is survived by his son, Michael E. Thompson; daughter-in-law, Pamela Thompson; sister-in-law Tibbie Adams of Weslaco; niece Patricia Tarrou of Clearwater, Florida; and niece Kim Morgan, of New York City.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 23, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring North Mortuary.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Goodwill Industries, Food Banks, the Boy Scouts of America, or the H.E.B. Laity Lodge Foundation in Kerrville, Texas.
