

Ernest "Ernie" Valentine Haack, II, age 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in San Antonio. He was born June 14, 1933 and grew up in San Antonio where he attended Central Catholic High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
He returned to San Antonio and graduated from St. Mary's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1958. Ernie was a petroleum geologist and was involved in a partnership with Robert A. Keahey for forty two years. He was a member of the Southwest Geological Society and was a part of the oil and gas industry in San Antonio most of his adult life.
Ernie devoted much of his time and energy to his wife and children, creating lasting memories with each one. Ernie loved spending time with his two sons, grandson and hunting buddies in Sabinal, Texas. His time in the off season was spent at his ranch in Rio Medina tending his horses, a pleasure Ernie enjoyed many a weekends through the years.
Life for Ernest was blessed with a determination to work hard, build his partnership and take time to enjoy the things and people that were important to him.
His death is preceded by his father and mother Ernest Valentine and Rosalie Haack.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Beatrice Marie Haack; son Ernest "Trey Valentine Haack III and wife Gayle; grandson Ernest "Quaid" Valentine Haack IV; granddaughters Carly and Asher; son Carlton Jay Haack and wife Sunee; granddaughter Jennifer Everhart; grandson Joey Blanton; daughter Karyn Leigh Dobbins and husband Edward; grandson Bradley; granddaughter Eighmy; and sister Katherine A. Haack.
Ernie was a quiet man whose heart spoke loudly, memories of times spent with him and who he was will not be forgotten and will be deeply cherished by those who called him Ernie, Dad, Opa and friend. He will truly be missed.
