At a young age, Ernest learned how to work as a machinist/mechanic through his father, who owned Vera's Machine Shop in the 1970's until the early 1980's. Their father trained Ernest and his brother to be certified mechanics and learned the trade as business individuals and the value of a strong work ethic. A machinist/mechanic is not an easy trade but Ernest enjoyed the challenge of working on vehicles and trying to make his customers happy. Ernest was known for being outgoing and friendly. To Ernest no one was a stranger, just a friend he hadn't spoken to yet. Although Ernest had many accomplishments, the one he was most proud of was when he married his wonderful wife Ashley in 2008. The two met in a random accident and started a beautiful relationship.
Ernest's heart grew when the couple welcomed their two children. The kids were Ernest's pride and joy. All their achievements gave Ernest joy to see them grow. But even more important than his family was his faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart and made sure that he taught his kids the very same faith that he knew as well.
Ernest will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, Refugio and Mercedes Vera; sister, Minerva "Minnie" Moreno; brother-in-laws, Victor De La Pena and Eddie Brookbank; and father-in-law, Ed Ragan.
His memory will forever live in his beloved wife Ashley; children, Ava and Jacob Vera; siblings, Rebecca Martinez (Danny), Belinda Brookbank, Orlando Vera (Lucy), and Maggie Marin (Roland); mother-in-law, Diane Ragan, brother-in-law Robert Moreno; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
