Ernesto "Ernie" Garza

Ernesto “Ernie” Garza, age 80, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 in San Antonio Texas. Ernie was born August 18, 1940 to Toribio Victor and Onodelia Garza in Laredo, Texas. The family moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1952.

Ernie graduated from Burbank High School in 1959. After graduating high school, he worked for HEB. Ernie then served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1968. He began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) from 1968-1999.

Ernie was a member of Los Caballeros Social Club, Pan American Golf Association, and a member of Tapatio Springs Country Club.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Margaret Garza (Robert), Gilbert Garza (Susie), Alice Kramer, Gloria E. Garza, and Lydia Garza Fischer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He played baseball, basketball, tennis and bowling; however, his passion was golf. He was a dedicated SPURS fan and enjoyed watching sports on TV. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours sitting outside his home.

He will be remembered for his caring heart, his sense of humor and selfless actions. We will forever cherish our memories with our dear brother, and he will always be loved.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
