

Esperanza Garcia, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. Esperanza was born on July 14, 1930 in Newgulf, Texas, to Pablo and Benita Cortez. She was the eldest daughter and had four sisters (Corina, Narci, Anita and Sylvia) and seven brothers (Joel, Jonathan, Pablo Jr., Ignacio, Jesse, Eliseo and Richard). Esperanza was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a missionary in the El Paso and New Mexico area for one year at the age of 21. She has served in many callings in the church as a Primary Teacher, Relief Society Teacher, Bible Studies Teacher and served in the San Antonio Temple. Esperanza was married to Rudy Garcia on September 9, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, until his passing on June 22, 1997. She was a devoted, loving, and patient mother who raised three children and loved her family very much. She raised all three children to become successful in life and provided them with religious and moral principles. Esperanza was employed at Citizens Hospital as a Physical Therapy Technician. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband. Esperanza is survived by her sons, David Garcia (Czarina) and their daughters Sheeneen and Amber, Miguel Garcia (Rae Lyn), their daughter Shayla, and sons Michael Ray, Chase and Lance, and Rodrigo Garcia, his daughter Loretta, and sons Rudy and Lorenzo; and 14 great grandchildren.
