Estella Serrano Elizondo

Estella was born on April 19, 1936, in Pearsall, Texas, to Guadalupe Serrano and Desiderio Gutierrez Elizondo, Sr. She was the oldest of 12 children. Estella earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University and a master’s degree from Southwest Texas State University. Estella loved to spend her free time with her family and singing along with mariachi music.

Estella will be deeply missed by her beloved daughter, Karen Guerra, son-in-law, Joe Guerra, grandchildren, John Eric, Analisa, and Joseph, great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Liam, and Luca, and siblings, Maria E. Robledo, Desiderio Elizondo, Jr., Diamantina E. Siller, Alamar E. Grander, and Eduardo Elizondo, along with extended family members and friends who cherished her strength, love, and guidance. Estella was preceded in death by her parents and other siblings, Julio S. Elizondo, Alicia E. Schreiber, Juan S. Elizondo, Lorenza S. Elizondo, Mary Snow E. (Maria Nieves) Maldonado, and Jose Luis S. Elizondo.

The family will receive guests from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, located at 1101 McCullough Avenue in San Antonio, Texas. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
