With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and beautiful mother, Estella "Tita" D. Gomez. She left us peacefully and without pain while the hospice chaplain prayed her into the loving arms of Our Lord and Savior on January 25, 2021. She was a longtime resident of San Antonio, but her heart belonged to Brownsville, TX where she was born and raised, graduating from Brownsville High School in 1962. She raised three ‘Army brats’ to love God and country, to be flexible and open to new things, and to keep a strong work ethic—but to let it down when it was party time! She was a generous, fun-loving extrovert and maintained deep friendships wherever we lived. Estella had a beautiful smile from a lifetime of laughter and good times.
Estella was an immaculate housekeeper with gifted hands, an impressive seamstress making custom draperies, beautiful clothes and fun costumes. She had the greenest of thumbs; flowers, plants, vegetables, fruits and herbs bloomed abundantly in her backyard. She was a great cook known for her homemade tortillas, tamales, and menudo. She fed everyone that she welcomed into her home, whether they were hungry or not! The holidays were always special at her home, spooky for Halloween, festive and overflowing with gifts for Christmas, and the perfect fireworks spot for new years eve and 4th of July. Children played in her magical home while adults partied on the back porch. Estella’s talent and creativity blessed her home and all who entered.
Her remarkable life was truly enriched when she met Terry Moran. They were crazy about each other and enjoyed 23 years of living life to the fullest, complete with a packed social calendar. They took frequent trips to the beach, casino, and bingo hall. All the while making plenty of time for their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. From births to ballgames, graduations to weddings, Estella was always there. She took them on trips big and small—from Disneyland to the local park, from Myrtle beach to the thrift store. Every child knew her deep love as she made them all feel like her favorite. She always enjoyed watching and cheering on her favorite team the San Antonio Spurs!
We are grateful and very much appreciate the excellent, loving care and support services provided to our mom by Ms. Minerva Ortega and her staff; PA Tom Cook with Hallmark House Calls; Ms. Emily of Mission Home Health Care; and Four Winds Hospice.
Estella was preceded in death by her mother Concepcion Abundes Dimsdle Youngkin, stepfather Charles Chuck Youngkin, father Joe Dimsdle Sr, grandparents Virginia Lopez brother Joe Dimsdle Jr. her beloved Terry Moran, and many loved relatives.

Headrick (Gary), Georgetown; Eloy Gomez (Gloria), San Antonio; grandchildren: Christie Serrano, Timothy Porter Jr. (Katie), Zachary Noah Hendrix, Alexa R. Gomez, Eriqua R.
