Estella R. Olivares

Estella R. Olivares born August 5, 1929 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 21, 2013 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Refugio R. Olivares, her parents Aurora and Lorenzo Rivera, and sister Guadalupe Rivera. She is survived by her daughter Stella Saldivar (Slick), sons Roy (Hilda), Tommy (Cindy) and Gary Olivares (Irene Puente); sisters Mary Gonzales, Mary Louise Zurita; brothers Lorenzo and Frank Rivera; Grandchildren Leslie Ann, Jaclyn, Brittany, Audrey, Danielle, Vanessa, Amanda, Matthew, Alyssa and Victoria; Great-Grandchildren Eric, Leila and Mia; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.

She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1947 and was a member of the Blue Jackets and a Cheerleader. Estella was very active in PTA where she once served as President. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Spanish Choir and the Guadalupanas. Estella loved to spend time at the coast with her husband, children and especially her grandchildren. Everyone knew Estella as a kind, loving and compassionate person. The family would like to thank the staff at TriSun Health Care (Wurzbach) and Girling Hospice for all their care. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in Estella’s name to St. Benedict’s Church Building Fund.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 6:00-7:00 PM with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Rd. Mass will be celebrated on July 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest along side her husband.
