She was an amazing woman who loved to read (especially John Grisham novels), exercise, and surround herself with friends and family. She never complained even up to her final days and never spoke bad about anyone. She graduated from Fox Tech High school then went to Draughon’s Practical Business College where she graduated in June 1943.
She attained her Shorthand Speed Certification in 1944 then worked for USAA. After graduating from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974 at age 49, she went on to become a School Teacher in the Edgewood Independent School District then worked as a Caseworker at the Texas Department of Human Services until she retired in 1987.
Esther’s husband, Humberto C. Garza, passed away in 1996. She is survived by her five sons: Daniel Garza, wife Julia and their 5 children Monica, Daniel, Andrea, Matthew and Lilliana; Abel Garza, wife Margaret and son Mark; Edward Garza, wife Stella and children Leticia, Thomas and Sarah; Steven Garza and wife Nelda and children Megan and Steven; and Charles Garza and wife, Annie and children Rebecca and Vashti. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces and other relatives.
The family will receive guests on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1715 North Zarzamora Street, San Antonio, Texas.
Father Gregory Ross to officiate. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
