Until she was 13 Pat lived in the Savannah, Georgia area. She had many fond memories of those years and began school there. She lived In England for two years when her step-father, a Chief Master Sargeant, was stationed there, but unfortunately her schooling was interrupted. The family moved to San Antonio, TX and she was able to resume high school and graduate from Brackenridge High School with honors. Pat also had a particularly beautiful handwriting she attributed to a teacher who had high expectations for quality penmanship.
Pat held part time jobs from the time she was only 11 years old. During and after graduating from high School she worked at the old Vogue Department Store downtown, then for USAA and finally for the Air Force at Kelly AFB, TX.
Pat began work at Kelly as a clerk-stenographer. She was made an Item Manager and soon became a supervisor at the San Antonio Air Logistics Center at Kelly AFB. She rose to the rank of GM-13 (USAF Major equivalent). Patricia held management level positions in the Aerospace Support Equipment, Aircraft Engines, and Aircraft Subsystems Divisions. In 1997 she retired as a Branch Chief with 35 years of service.
Patricia was a key person in holding many South San High School Reunions (her husband’s high school) and Kelly AFB Reunions and various other Kelly programs. Pat and Charles maintained a large email address group of several hundred employees to keep Kelly AFB people together and abreast of pertinent information.
Pat was a very pretty woman. She ran for Kelly AFB queen and was featured in several Kelly AFB events. In 1963 Pat met Charles Jurek at Kelly AFB, who was a requirements analyst trainee at Kelly. They married 22 August 1964 and were happily and wonderfully married for 61 years. They have one son, John, who graduated from UTSA with an engineering degree.
Patricia always felt blessed. She had a wonderful marriage, loving relatives, many friends and loved every job she ever had. She said she was blessed with the best husband and best son a woman could have. Both Pat and Charles always said that if they could live their lives over, they would not change a thing, except the problems of old age.
She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Jurek and her son John M. Jurek. Her surviving siblings are sisters Charlotte, Frances and Valda and one brother, Steve.
