Esther Carrizales Riewerts was called to her eternal rest in the early hours of Monday, July 17, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born to her parents, Valdomero and Concepcion Carrizales on June 16, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Major Errol Riewerts; sister, Mary Helen Guerra; and brothers, Daniel Carrizales and Rudy Carrizales.
Esther has been the matriarch of the Carrizales family ever since the passing of her dear mother in 2010 and is survived by her siblings, Rev. Joe G. Carrizales, Valdomero Carrizales, Jr. (Yolanda), Connie Gutierrez (Luis), Berta Carrizales, and Rev. Roy Carrizales (Diana); numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all who were touched and blessed by “Aunt Esther.” She dedicated her life to her family and her unconditional love was individually felt by all.
Some of Esther’s hobbies were reading, gardening, spending time with family, and traveling. As a military wife, she lived in France, Germany, Lynn, MA, and Great Falls MT before returning to San Antonio. She enjoyed a wonderful career at Frost Bank from where she retired in 1995 and became a member of the Quarter Century Club. Her travels took her throughout Europe, Mexico, and she was blessed to spend her 84th birthday in the mountains of Peru.
Esther was a blessing to so many in different ways, most especially to the ministries of her brothers at Beautiful Gate Baptist Church in San Antonio and Iglesia Bautista Libertad in Houston. The impact she made on these ministries leaves a legacy that will be honored and will live on in memory of her generosity.
All who were blessed to know Esther were certainly touched by her beautiful spirit, loving, and welcoming demeanor. All are saddened by this separation, but are grateful that she now rests from her labors. She leaves a great void in her family and all who knew her.
