Ethel Ann Popham

Ethel Ann Popham of Brownwood, Texas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026. Born on June 5, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, Ann lived a beautifully full life, leaving an enduring mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was known for her infectious laugh and her love for Jesus and country music. Throughout her life’s journey, her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the warmth of family and friends and enjoying simple pleasures like her beloved cat and fresh-poured morning coffee. She had a creative nature, often sharing color-by-number artwork as tokens of love for those she held dearest. In her earlier years, Ann embraced life with an adventurous spirit, whether square dancing, tending to her massive garden, making homemade jams, or searching for hidden treasures metal detecting. Most of all, her unforgettable laugh and spirited personality will be held warmly in memory by all who loved her.

Ann is survived by her children Leslie Hines, Patricia Pruett (husband Tony), Robert Carter, Victoria Lew (husband Michael), Susan Kozora (husband Mark), Christine Hengesteg (husband Chris), stepdaughter Cheri Powers, step-grandchildren Heather and Megan, siblings Judy Gray, Janie Schlup, Anton Rose, grandchildren Crystal, Lance, Justin, Roland, Cooper, Patrick, Shasta, Austin, Gabrielle, Ricky, Kendra, Grace, Elizabeth, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Billy Mack Popham of twenty-nine years and prior husband John Wiley Carter of twenty years, her mother Olivia Paula Schumann Rose, and her father Ethmer Nugent Cason.

We request that family and loved ones join us in celebrating her life on June 4, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78212. The burial site is Fairview Cemetery, 1696 FM 2505, Floresville, Texas 78114.
