Eugene Montgomery Bickerstaff

He was born in Aquilla, TX, on December 19, 1914 to the late Philip and Mirtie Mae Bickerstaff.

He met and married Phyllis Elaine on October 14, 1940.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his son, Eugene Bubba; four brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Penny Cornett and husband, Ken of Houston, TX; grandsons, Kevin and wife, Julie of The Woodlands, TX; Kyle and wife, Tesa of San Antonio, TX; Casey and wife, Autumn of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Cole, Dylan and Chloe; sisters, Louise Noah of Comfort, TX and Mary Underhill and husband, Frank of Raleigh, NC.

Eugene loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. He began his military career in Puerto Rico. Assigned to the 462nd bombardment group or Hellbirds, he had tours in India, China, Japan and the Tinian Island during World War II. He also served in the Korean War and attained the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring.

He then worked for the state for 22 years. He loved and served God and was a faithful member of Concordia Lutheran Church for 48 years.
