He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of Winter Park United Methodist Church in Winter Park, FL, the Kiwanis and the Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Olive M. Koon; son, Richard E. Koon, both of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jennifer Koon Carney of Roswell, GA, and Jonathan R. Koon of Jacksonville, FL; and great grandchildren, Shannon M. Carney and Owen M. Carney, both of Roswell, GA.
