Eugene C. McKinney, age 88, passed away on December 01, 2010 in San Antonio. Gene was born on October 02, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas to parents B.B. and Leila McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Treysa S. McKinney and a son, Michael E. McKinney.
A Baylor graduate in the playwriting field, Gene went onto become a Professor of Playwriting in the theatre department at Baylor University 1948-1963 and was Playwright in Residence at Trinity University 1963-1987, both under the direction of Paul Baker. Gene was also the Director of the Graduate Program in Playwriting at the Dallas Theater Center 1959-1985, had 12 plays produced including A Different Drummer and The Cross-Eyed Bear and wrote scripts for film and television. He was a long time member of Manor Baptist Church.
