

Eugene Gene C. Pape, Jr., age 70 passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007. He was born on May 1, 1937 in Miami, FL.
He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1955 and St. Mary's University in 1962. Gene had a remarkable talent and ability to excel in all of his pursuits, whether as an artist, calligrapher, computer programmer, home remodeler, interior and exterior designer, craftsman, or landscaper.
While employed with Dresser Industries in Houston, he was chosen to travel to Europe to convert the company's European computers in order to communicate with the company's American computers. For many years before he retired, he was employed by the City of San Antonio in the main computer department.
In the years before and after retirement, he concentrated on remodeling and landscaping his homes, and building or restoring furniture.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary D. Pape; son, Eugene Trey Pape, III, of Phoenix, AZ; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Chapin and husband, Mickey also of Phoenix, AZ; stepsons, Bruce Edwards, Carl Edwards both of Houston, TX., and Scott Edwards of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Patrick J. Pape and wife, Martha of San Antonio, TX, and Daniel T. Pape of New Braunfels, TX; three grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
