He was born to wonderful parents, Francisco and Francisca Quiroz. In 1955, he graduated from Fox Tech High School and proudly joined the US Marine Corps serving from 1955 to 1959. He always said, the best thing God blessed him with was Lucy De La Garza, his childhood friend who became his beautiful bride in an endearing marriage of 53 years.
For over 34 years, he was a respected and loyal employee of the US Postal Service. Lalo, as he was affectionately known, was devout in his faith and followed the commandment to love thy neighbor as you would love yourself. He had a reputation as a friend to everyone and never encountered a stranger in all walks of his life. He volunteered in many church activities at First Baptist and Ways of Christ Church; always participating as an example in the ways of Christ. Loving, gentle and humble, Lalo exhibited great passion in his faith and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Isabel Herrera.
Lalo is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille; loving children: Kathleen Quiroz, Laura Macias and husband Steve, Ruben Quiroz, and Linda Crerand and husband Lou; grandsons: Mateo and Diego Macias; Luke and Sean Crerand; siblings: Janie Ramirez, Beatrice Trejo and husband Santos, Arturo Quiroz and wife Lily and Alice Molina; nephew, Naman Joseph Galvan; numerous other relatives along with many wonderful friends and neighbors.
On Friday, July 10th a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough. We were blessed to have had Lalo in our lives in setting an example of an incredibly selfless man who loved his family and all those who crossed his path.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Television Ministry at First Baptist Church or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.
