I was saddened to hear of Aunt Eva's passing last evening Thanksgiving Day. Although it had been some 30+ years since I saw her, she always held a dear place in my heart for her happy and uplifting spirit. Love and prayers to all the family. Joan

Dear Uncle Albert and family, I was so saddened to hear that Aunt Eva had passed away? my thoughts and prayers are with you all. She will be missed deeply by so many people, including myself. Aunt Eva was one of a kind, never to be replaced! When I think of the few summers that I spent with her, I can?t help but laugh out loud! She was the most hysterically funny, loud, loving, loud, generous, and loud woman that I have ever had the pleasure to know. Her laugh was so contagious! One of the funniest memories that I have of her was when I went to play Bingo with her and my grandmother Anne. We had just sat down and the two of them were telling me about a ?bat? incident that happened the week before, at the same Bingo hall we were in. It involved Aunt Eva, her hairdo, and a big black bat, hell-bent on zeroing in on her hair. No sooner did that come out of her mouth, with grandma and I laughing loudly, when we could hear screams coming from the back of the room. We all looked up too see a big black bat headed our way. Aunt Eva jumped up screaming and running. There was a woman at the end of our table putting Bingo cards into a paper grocery bag. Aunt Eva grabbed the bag from her and cards went flying everywhere. She put the bag over her head of hair, as she ran screaming into the women?s restroom. I?ve never laughed so hard in my entire life!!! It was one of those times that you had too be there, too really believe it was truly happening. I wish that I could have grown up in San Antonio and spent more time with her, and all of my aunts, uncles and many cousins, but some things were never meant to be. I will treasure the memories that I do have of her, always. Thinking of you all, Debbie

I have been with you in my thoughts and prayers all week. I have cried and laughed all week. Aunt Eva was bigger than life to me and now she really is. I hope I can see you soon and share more x-rated memories! I love you, Suzie

I will always remember her beautiful smiling face. The summer Jeanette was in bed and I would go visit and Mrs. Andry was always so happy and I thought she was so beautiful, she looked like a model to me. I am saddened by her passing but I know she is in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

On behalf of my mother, Adell, my father, Gene, and myself, I send our deepest sympathy. Aunt Eva will always be present in my life. I know that if my mom was still "Adell", she would be there in a heartbeat. I do so wish that I could have been. Margaret has kept me informed several times a day and we share 'Eva' stories each time. I tell my daughters that she is the one who taught me how to swear since I do that alot. They love her and really wish they could have met her - this I regret. My life will be forever blessed that Aunt Eva was part of it. Jerry Smale and I constantly keep her as part of our conversation. Her laughter, her beers, her cigarettes and her living room altar will always be a part of my memories. Having visited memory lane these few days with family members has reminded me of the boundless love that aunt Eva nurtured and fostered in her extended family-I thank God that she was such a big part of my life. I know that you as her family will miss her so much, but she gave you such a capacity for love and joy in each other that that togetherness will bring you through. Aunt Eva openend her home to me when I came to San Antonio after my father died. It took me very little time to realize that almost everything she said was either a tease or a joke. She was the perfect balance to my Uncle Albert and his thoughtful and quiet ways. Our family loved Albert and Eva very much and Mom always mentioned them in any conversation about San Antonio and the old days. I will miss her. Bill

For my cousins: I keep starting to cry and then I remember something that happened with The Queen that just makes me laugh and laugh. Too many memories to write, but the main one that goes 'round in my head is all of us piled in the station wagon and passing your neighbors house and your mom made us all look at the house and say, "Same to you whatever you think, same to you whatever you do!", then we had to look away so she wouldn't turn us into a stone or biscuit! When we were teens, Nettie and I were going to see Lindell and Auntie Adelle. We were going to buy our airplane tickets and my mom turned the corner onto Grant to take her and Jeanette home. The axle on our Impala broke and while we turned left, the front right tire rolled--hauling theeze up French street! My mom was crying and me and Jeanette were screaming and your mom was LAUGHING so hard I thought she peed her pants! I can still see her and I think she and momma are having a cigarette over coffee right now laughing about that and so much more. I loved Aunt Eva more than I can say and it breaks my heart not to be there, but I have her picture on my altar at home and there she will stay. I love you all and hope to see you soon. Love, Suzie

My Aunt Eva was the best! She colored my childhood with laughter and could make the most mundane event an adventure! Her love and acceptance was always there...she loved loudly and strongly and loyally...Aunt Eva was ahead of her time in so many ways...she taught me to be fearless in the face of criticism...irreverent in the face of pomposity...unrelenting in family love and loyalty...she faced adversity with a smirk and an expletive deleted... She also taught me NEVER to call her during the "Young and the Restless! Her children were her treasure...her love for them was raw and uncomplicated...and she valued each one of them and their many individual gifts. She made my childhood fun and gifted me with her irrepressible spirit...I will always be grateful...My memories of her do not bring a mere smile to my face, but a grin from ear-to-ear and a chuckle out loud! I loved her very much and will miss her terribly...My love, hugs and kisses to Uncle Albert,Tin-Tin, Cookie, Jeannette, Jimmy, Philip, and Mitchell and the rest of the Andry clan...I love you all very much...miles and time have not changed that...you all remain in my prayers...P.S....would it kill you to give me a call once-in-a-while?!
