With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we remember our beloved Eva Gonzalez, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love, warmth, and traditions will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
Born on March 29, 1934, Eva found joy in life's simplest and most meaningful pleasures: tending to her garden, cooking for her family, and filling her home with love, laughter, and the comforting feeling of belonging.
If there was one thing Eva knew how to do, it was make someone feel loved through food. She always had something to feed you, and she went out of her way to prepare everyone's favorite dishes, even if it meant making something special for just one person. To her, no effort was too great when it came to making the people she loved happy.
Her family will forever cherish the traditions that made holidays at Grandma's so special. Christmas meant her beautiful tree decorated with red chiles, the unmistakable aroma of homemade tamales, and the delicious Mexican desserts that no one could ever quite make the way she did. Easter was just as magical. Eva would spend weeks carefully saving eggshells so her grandchildren could make colorful cascarones, filling Easter weekend with excitement and laughter before the big egg hunt on Easter Sunday. These weren't simply holiday traditions; they were beautiful expressions of her love and the memories she lovingly created for her family.
And then there were the quieter moments that meant just as much. Sitting together on the back porch at the ranch in the morning, enjoying the peaceful start of a new day. Watching her tend to her garden or prepare something wonderful in the kitchen. These everyday memories, once so ordinary, have become some of the most precious treasures she leaves behind.
Eva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alonzo Gonzalez, who passed away in 2022.
Eva is survived by her loving children, Eva Carpenter, Patricia Reyna, Jose Alonzo Gonzalez, and Carlos Gonzalez; her cherished granddaughters, Mariscela Mendez, Cristina Cortez, Monica Hearn, and Rebecca Murillo; and her six beloved great-grandchildren.
Eva's greatest legacy is the love she poured into her family and the traditions she passed down. Her presence will be felt each Christmas when tamales are made, each Easter when cascarones are cracked, and in every family gathering where food, laughter, and memories bring loved ones together.
Though we wish we could share one more meal from her kitchen, spend one more peaceful morning on the porch, or celebrate one more holiday by her side, we are forever grateful for the beautiful memories she gave us.
She taught us, in her own special way, that love doesn't always need to be spoken. Sometimes it is found in a favorite meal made just for you, a carefully saved eggshell, or simply sitting together in the morning sunshine.
Rest peacefully, Grandma. Thank you for the traditions, the memories, the laughter, and a lifetime of love. We will miss you more than words can express, but we will carry a little piece of you in everything we do.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Grandma.
The family will receive guests from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary West, with a rosary to follow at 5:00 p.m.
