Evelyn E. Murphy

Evelyn E. Murphy, age 97, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on March 19, 1924 in San Antonio, TX to George and Lillye Hagman Perry. She married and had two sons, but this ended when the husband became abusive. Putting aside her likely success as a singer, dancer, pianist, songwriter.. even actress, she selflessly devoted her life to supporting her mother, ill sister, and two sons. God lifted her up to this superhuman calling because she gave her whole life to Him. Hers was a rock solid faith, unwaivering through every adversity. She received commendations from the Defense Department for her vital work in overseas operations. She was beautiful, friendly, unassuming, delightful, and witty, inspiring good character in her sons. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two beloved sons, George Marston Murphy and John Shannon Murphy. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Mt. Calvary Dr., 78209. Pastor Craig Meissler will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park
