Everett Wayne Cobb, SFC (Retd.) U.S. Army

Everett “Wayne” Cobb passed away unexpectedly at N.E. Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the age of 74. Wayne is predeceased by his father and mother, Addie and Mattie Cobb as well as his brother, JD Cobb.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 32 years. They were married in Athens, Texas on March 10, 1984. Wayne is lovingly remembered by his two siblings, Richard and Sandra Cobb; his children Casiano J. Bueno, Rickey J. Bueno, Christina M. Ashby and Lora A. Pippin & their spouses; his 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren that will miss him so much.

Wayne was born in Odessa, Texas on December 31, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Vietnam Veteran after 20 years and 11 months in 1981. During his service times he had 5 tours to Vietnam and was a 99 Charlie Medic (LVN). He earned a Master’s Degree from University of Texas at Tyler in 1987. His second retirement was from Tyler Junior College in 1994, where he was a Special Media Technician. Wayne and Ruth moved to San Antonio in 1994. Wayne gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 2005 and was a member of Eisenhauer Road Baptist Church.

Wayne loved listening to classical music, watching war movies, laughing, being with his family, having fun with friends playing chicken foot and having Bible Study faithfully every Wednesday evening in their home. He maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

The visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway on April 23 at 6-8 pm. The celebration of life will be held at Eisenhauer Road Baptist Church, 3950 Eisenhauer Road, San Antonio, Texas on April 25 at 10 am. with Pastors David Taylor and Larry Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio at 11:15 am. A meal for the family will take place in the ERBC Fellowship Hall following services.
