

Evaristo (Everett) S Hernandez Sr. went to be with our Lord on February 3, 2022, at the age of 78 in San Antonio, Texas February 3, 2022. Everett, also known as Mr.H. was born to Hortencia and Roman Hernandez, in Poteet, Texas on October 26, 1943. Everett was raised with nine siblings in Somerset, Texas and he graduated from Somerset High School in 1963.
On June 17, 1967, he married Elisa Rivera Hernandez at St Bonaventure Catholic Church. They celebrated 54 years of marriage never leaving each other’s side apart from deployment. Everett S Hernandez Sr. was drafted into the United States Army and he proudly swore in to serve his country. He was immediately sent to foreign grounds. Sergeant Hernandez served in the Vietnam War as an E5 Chemical Specialist working specifically with Agent Orange from 1969 to 1970. Everett respectfully declined an invitation to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation so that he could dedicate his time to family.
In 1973, Everett & Elisa began their family with their first-born son, Everett R. Hernandez Jr. born on December 7th Pearl Harbor Day. In 1976, they were blessed with United States Bicentennial Twins, Michael and Michelle Hernandez on the 4th of July.
In 1978 the Hernandez Family moved to Chicago Illinois. There, Everett Hernandez Sr was the Superintendent of a downtown apartment building. Several years later the family moved back to San Antonio.
Once the Hernandez family settled back down in San Antonio, Texas, Everett and his wife, Elisa opened what is now Hernandez Ice House in 1989. What started out as a humble convenient store, slowly evolved into the neighborhood ice house. Hernandez Ice House was in operation for 31 years until Covid 19 hit in 2020.
Everett enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, smelt fishing, playing pool and raising his chickens. He loved to take his wife, Elisa, to Lerma’s Night Club to dance the night away.
Everett was predeceased by his parents, Roman and Hortencia Hernandez, and his siblings, Ernest, Virginia, Elisa, Helen, and Freddie. His great-niece Hillary and great-great-nephew Baby Freddie.
Those left to cherish Everett's memory are his loving wife, Elisa R Hernandez, his children Everett (Merissa), Michael and Michelle, his grandchildren Ruben, Elisa, Courtney, Evelyn. Amber, Timothy, Sarah, Crystal, Joshua, Everett III, Alicia, Jeanette, Michael Jr, Presley, Jaden, and great-grandchildren RaeLynn, Divinity, Tidus, and Riona. He is also survived by his siblings Arturo, Alex (Verna), Diane, Ricky (Mary), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, February 28th, 2022, at 7:00 pm at Trevino Funeral Home (Palo Alto).
On Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, there will be an 11:00 am departure from Trevino Funeral Home to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church for a 12Noon Mass. After Mass, a processional to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. There, Everett S Hernandez Sr will receive Military Honors and will be laid to rest.
