

Fay Sinkin was born on March 24, 1918 in New York. She died on March 4, 2009 in San Antonio. Fay had a long life of community involvement, serving as President of the League of Women Voters, organizing the Visiting Nurse Association, and leading the effort to protect the Edwards Aquifer. She was the first woman to serve on a grand jury and the first woman to serve on the San Antonio Board of Health. She was also elected to the Edwards Underground Water District.
She is survived by her husband, William R. Sinkin, of San Antonio; two sons, Richard Sinkin of San Diego, Calif., and Lanny Sinkin of Hilo, Hawaii; three granddaughters, Patti Leigh, Katherine Hancock, and Amelia Sinkin; and three great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Hancock and Jennifer Leigh.
Rabbi Dr. Samuel M. Stahl and Rabbi Barry H.D. Block officiating. Bill Sinkin and Family will also be holding a reception at Temple Bethel in Fay's honor after the service at 2:45 pm.
