

He was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 12, 1953 to Federico Gonzalez Sr. and Angelita Avila. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Jose Santiago, Ernesto Gonzalez, Luz Gonzalez, Abel Gonzalez and sisters Esmeralda Tucker, and Susan Peets.
Federico is survived by his brother David Vazquez, and sisters Diana Knight and Rose Schmidt as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Federico also had an adopted family starting with Jose and Guadalupe Flores. Their children Anna, Mary, Velia, Joey and Mikey would eventually grow up with Fred.
Federico was given the nickname “Daddy Chet” after he happily involved himself in the upbringing of Anna’s daughters Vanessa (who Fred called Melissa) Veronica, Raquel, and Adriana.
As a child Fred grew up in Pinconning, Michigan. He did some migrant work but in 1982 he left Michigan and moved back to Texas. It was in Texas where he began working in sales and the food industry. He also worked in service jobs namely The Marriot for 15 years. Federico was a hard worker all his life. He enjoyed working. He was good at it. Fred loved giving to others so much that he would often have 3-4 streams of revenue so that he could give his heart’s desire.
For so many, Fred brought love, support, laughter, and dancing. Now Fred is rejoicing, restored and dancing in the Heavenly realms.
