Felix was born July 17, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas to Isabel and Susie (Hernandez) Rosel and attended Lanier High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1946. In 1950, before an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Felix married Vera Cirlos in San Antonio, Texas. Felix would later recall this timeframe of his life as rough times, as he worked many jobs to make ends meet as a laborer; installing tile and pouring cement, and other various jobs, before enrolling in an IBM program as a punch card processor. Upon graduation in 1954, and still active in the Marine Corps Reserve, Felix transferred to Kelly Air Force Base, in which he advanced to data processing. This path later led him to reenlist in the armed forces, this time, with the United States Army, in 1961. Shortly after, Felix was sent to South Korea before returning home, to the States, to later be stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and then to Birmingham, Alabama. In 1966, Felix and his family would be relocated and stationed in Verdun, France and later, Frankfurt, Germany, before his deployment to Vietnam in 1969 where he earned his Purple Heart. Between 1971 to 1990, Felix continued in active duty, being stationed in various locations in the United States, until his retirement from both military service and civil service, ranking as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4. During his years of active service, Felix was awarded numerous awards and medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He will be remembered for his witty and matter-of-fact attitude, his outpouring love for his family and friends, and most importantly, for his love of brandy and cognac.
Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Susie; his sister, Tillie Lankford; and great-grandson, Caleb Creasman.
