Flora, 84, was born in Bayview, Texas, to Pedro and Catalina Longoria on August 9, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Catalina Longoria; her brother, Arturo Longoria; her sister, Dalia “Dolly” Arthur; and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Galvan.
She is survived by her children: Sonia Evon Terryn (Fred) of Panama City Beach, Florida; Armando Alberto Galvan of San Antonio, Texas; Andres Angel Galvan of San Antonio, Texas; Amalia Annette Campbell (Brandon) of San Antonio, Texas; and Alejandro Abel Galvan (Johna) of Brandon, Florida. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Natasha, Nicole, Sadie, Hollis, Sofia, Haleigh, Havianna, and Aiden, and great-grandchildren Lily, Lizette, Hazel, and Luke.
Flora, affectionately known as “Flo” or “Mama Flo,” greeted everyone with a warm smile and an even warmer hug. Her laughter could light up any room she entered, and her energy was simply unmatched. She had a spirit for celebration and was always ready to step onto the dance floor and bring the party to life.
During her high school years, Flo attended Los Fresnos High School, where she was both a cheerleader and a basketball player. She treasured her time as a Falcon and held dear the friendships she made there. Her love for those years was evident throughout her life, as she faithfully attended class reunions—including one just this past summer—reconnecting with friends and reminiscing about cherished memories.
Flora was a loving and devoted mother to her five children, and over the years she also became a mother figure to many others. She spent much of her life working in sales, where her natural charm and warmth made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike. At one time she owned a beauty shop in Monterrey, Mexico. Later, she helped customers find their style at Dillard’s and JCPenney. One especially meaningful chapter of her life was at Rocky J’s Billiards and Arcade. During her years there, she became much more than an employee—she was a friend, mentor, counselor, and, most importantly, a “mom” to so many. It was there that the name “Mama Flo” was truly born.
A woman of many talents, Flora will always be remembered for the confidence and joy she brought into the kitchen, pouring her heart into every meal she prepared. She also had a natural gift for oil painting, bringing blank canvases to life with vibrant color and beauty. She was a fierce competitor on the tennis court and in the bowling alley. Truly, there was little that Flo couldn’t do.
Mama Flo carried herself with elegance and grace throughout her life. She enjoyed her routines and the simple joys that came with them. One thing was certain: every Thursday at 11 a.m., her hair was done by her beloved hairstylist and dear friend, Rosy Alvarez—a weekly tradition she cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway in San Antonio. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The family of Flora wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Lim and the care team at HealthTexas, as well as the entire hospice team at Compassus, for their compassion and support.
