She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John M. Hale and by her adored granddaughter, Erin McElderry. She is survived by her daughters, Pat McElderry and Cynthia Berkley; and by her son and his wife, Steve and Kathy Hale; as well as by four grandchildren, Regan, Rachel, Cody and Zachary; and two great grandchildren, Milo and Cayden.
Jo earned a degree in history from Park College in Missouri, attended law school for two years in Kansas, and earned a degree in library science from the University of Denver in Colorado.
Private service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
