

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Hattie (Burrows) and Henry Kight, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald J. (Jack) Knight, her siblings, Dola (Kelley) and Doyle Kight; her grandchildren, Lyn (Albers) Casey and Donald Markland Albers.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Hoch and husband, Ronald; twin great grandsons, Tanner Paul Casey and Trevor Knight Casey, their father, Paul; chosen granddaughter, Sheila K. Foster. Also surviving are her nephews, Forrest Kelley and wife, Dolores; Robert Kelley and wife, Carolyn; niece, Maxine (Kelley) Boling and husband, Garlin, all of Englewood, FL; first cousins, Freddie C. Kight and wife, Madeline, of Panama City, FL; Dane Whipkey (wife Harriet) and Melba (Dye) Starcher (husband Kenny); Jack's brothers, Olen C. Knight (wife Ruth), John D. Knight (wife "GiGi"); Jack's sister, Dortha L. Starling and sister-in-law, Emogene Knight.
Florence and Jack moved from Grantsville to Hamlin in 1944 where Jack worked for Marietta Torpedo Company; from there they moved to Huntington in 1949.
Florence began working as a seamstress in Huntington and enjoyed sewing until shortly before her death. She sewed all three dresses the bridesmaids wore in her granddaughter's wedding, her proudest accomplishment!
Florence has been a long-time member of Order of Eastern Star, Huntington Chapter No. 8; former member of Mud River Baptist Church, Ona, WV, and current member of Windcrest United Methodist Church in San Antonio, where she has been actively involved in Builder's Sunday School Class, ROOTS (Royal Order of Terrific Seniors), Craft Class and Games Day since she and Barbara moved to San Antonio in 1992.
Florence loved traveling with her family all over the United States, sight-seeing, playing games/cards, but most of all, she loved returning to the beautiful West Virginia hills. She never forgot her "home", Calhoun County, and always spoke with pride of her beloved home state! She was a life-time subscriber to the Calhoun Chronicle and attended many of her high school and family reunions.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 11:00 AM at Windcrest United Methodist Church, 8101 Midcrown, San Antonio, TX 78239 and interment of ashes will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in August 2015.
